Quentin Derouet graduated with honors in 2012 from the Villa Arson in Nice and has since been represented by galleries in Paris, Nice, Grenoble, as well as in Shanghai and Beirut. Chantal Helenbeck introduced him to Meilland in Antibes, who created a variety of rose for him that the artist applied directly to his canvas—crushed, macerated, diluted, and charred. It was Chantal Helenbeck again who accompanied the artist to China, where he met the world’s largest rose producer.
The color of the material sometimes evolves on the canvas over time, transforming the work into a living, organic piece.
