* VIETNAM, 19th century - Lot 82
* VIETNAM, 19th century A pair of ceremonial "kiem"-style straight-bladed sabers, with handles made of fossilized mammoth molar, finely polished, displaying beautiful natural veining in shades of ivory and honey brown. The pommels, guards, and mountings are crafted from chiseled and repoussé silver, adorned with stylized dragons winding through foliage and floral motifs, in a rich, imperial-inspired design. The flat-bladed swords are housed in lacquered exotic wood scabbards, decorated on both sides with mother-of-pearl inlays depicting flowering branches, birds, and plant motifs, reflecting the refined craftsmanship characteristic of Far Eastern workshops. The scabbard fittings, also in chased silver, feature a harmonious design of dragons and stylized characters. L. 102 cm (Signs of wear, distortions, small losses in the inlays).
