- The men's 200-meter race at the 1968 Olympic Games took place on October 15 and 16, 1968 at the Olympic University Stadium in Mexico City. The final was won by American Tommie Smith, who set a new 200-meter world record in 19.83. The 200-meter podium was made famous by the raised, black-gloved fist of athletes Tommie Smith and John Carlos in protest against the situation of black Americans at the time.
